Commenting on her performance in the unfavorable weather conditions Spencer said: “It was a great run; I was not expecting this weather but I have trained in the rain at times. Even this week, I was training in the rain, so it was a great run for me.”
Spencer who was an 800m runner before joining the Stephan Francis camp continued: “I was just focusing on my race and doing my thing. I am in great shape going into the trials.”
Despite her impressive performance in the 400m this season, Spencer will not be doing the 400m-400m hurdles double but instead will focus on her pet event the 400m hurdles. She confirmed that she was just using the flat 400m race to help in her preparation for the 400m hurdles and that she would love to be in the 4x4 relay pool.
The former World Junior 400m hurdles champion has a season best 50.95 in the flat 400m and a season best 54.20 in the 400m hurdles. She also has a personal best 2:03.01 in the 800m. Her next race will be at the Jamaica Trails in Kingston next week.
