Jamaica’s Yohan Blake and Antigua’s Daniel Bailey, training partners of the Racers Track Club in Jamaica, finished in a dead heat in the men's 100m dash at Alma Athlé Tour in Reims, France on Wednesday, June 30. Both crossed the line in 10 seconds flat (-0.1w) and not even a photo-finish could separate them. American Mike Rodgers was a distant third in 10.19 seconds.
Blake told the media that the result was wonderful as is was only his second competitive race this season, and that he was looking for more races to improve his time. He will compete soon either in Gateshead, London or Barcelona, Spain.
Bailey was equally pleased with his performance and noted that the final time on a slow track was satisfying. "I was not looking for something big,” he told the media. “I just wanted to finish healthy. My drive phase was a little bit long. That's something I'll work on in Gateshead."
