Last night’s Class 1 Boys sprint relay heats at Champs in Jamaica were part of what track and field commentator Ato Boldon called “the entrée to a four-course meal”, which you want to savor and make space for what’s to come. “You don’t want to miss the final on Saturday,” he said, after a number of schools went below 41 seconds in advancing, with St. Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) leading the way in 40.11. The times have set up what’s expected to be a mouth-watering final on Saturday evening, in which half the field could go below 40secs. The STETHS team won at Western Champs and at the Gibson Relays. Last night they looked focused and confident, and seem they have what it takes to handle any challenges from the likes of Munro and Bridgeport, with Delano Williams and Jazeel Murphy, respectively, on the anchor.
