As part of its program geared toward preparing Trinidad and Tobago's (T&T) relay teams for the London Olympics, the National Association for Athletics Administrations in the twin-island republic has entered three squads to compete at the 118th Penn Relays in Philadelphia, which begins Thursday, April 26.
This Saturday afternoon, the 28th and final day of the relay carnival, T&T will field teams in the men’s 4x4, and women’s and men’s 4x1 relays in the USA vs. The World segment. The T&T 4x1 men will be in action at 12:55 p.m. and will be followed by their female counterparts at 1:15. The 4x4 men will line up at 2:30.
The 4x4 men are expected go up against the Bahamas, Jamaica and the US. In the sprint relay, the women will also come up against the Bahamas, Jamaica and US. The 4x1 men will race against Jamaica, Bahamas, Canada and the USA. The races will be beamed live online.
The teams are as follows: WOMEN’s 4x1: Michelle-Lee Ahye, Reyare Thomas, Aleesha Barber, Semoy Hackett and Kai Selvon.
MEN’s 4x1: Richard Thompson, Rondel Sorrillo, Keston Bledman, Marc Burns and Emmanuel Callender.
MEN’s 4x4: Lalonde Gordon, Jarrin Solomon, Machel Cedenio, Jereem Richards and Stann Waithe.
Squad members in T&T will leave for Philadelphia Thursday afternoon.
