Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) held its national trials this past weekend (Aug. 13 and 14), only two weeks before the 2011 World Championships in Athletics in Daegu next week, and without delay named a strong team to represent the twin-island nation at the Games. Full Story »

The Prefontaine Classic being held today and tomorrow (June 3 & 4) in Eugene, Oregon will feature several Caribbean athletes, who are rounding into top shape for the ultimate destination: Daegu, South Korea in August. Olympic and World 100m champion Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Steve Mullings and Nesta Carter, and Trinidad’s Richard Thompson will lead the charge for the region. Full Story »

Yohan Blake continued his meteor rise in world class sprinting with an impressive 9.89 secs (-0.4 m/s) personal best (PB) performance in the 100m at the London Diamond League meet yesterday. Blake, the 20-year-old 2006 IAAF World Juniors 100m bronze medalist, came from behind the pack to finish second place to a red-hot Tyson Gay of the US, who took the event in a season best, meet record and world-leading 9.78. Trinidad & Tobago’s Richard Thompson was third in 10.05. Full Story »
