Running out of lane 8 and leaving the blocks dead last (0.234 reaction time), Jamaica’s Veronica Campbell-Brown, the current two-time Olympic and a former World champion over 200m and 100m, respectively, had to dig deep and finish like a high-speed train to snatch the silver medal from her Caribbean rival, Kelly-Ann Baptiste of Trinidad and Tobago, in the final of the women’s 100m at the World Championships in Daegu today. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Unfazed by Last Place Finish

The reigning Olympic and World 100m Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica had a horrible outing at the adidas Grand Prix meet in New York, finishing at the back of the field in 23.52secs (-2.8w). The USA’s Allyson Felix (22.92) and Bianca Knight (22.96) were first and second. Full Story »

The Prefontaine Classic being held today and tomorrow (June 3 & 4) in Eugene, Oregon will feature several Caribbean athletes, who are rounding into top shape for the ultimate destination: Daegu, South Korea in August.
