UTech Men Survive Intercol Champs by a Whisker

In a meet sprinkled with surprises, it was no surprise that the University of Technology (UTech) and GC Foster College took the major titles at last week’s VMBS Intercollegiate Track and Field Championships. JC Awesome on New Blue Track at Gibson Relays

Jamaica College (JC) christened the new National Stadium track with six big wins at last Saturday’s Gibson Relays. JC won three of the four 4x100 races, two 4x200 finals and the 4x800 and on a day where Racers Track Club had a triple, JC crowned its triumphs with a record in the Class 3 boys 4x100. Full Story »

Munro, STETHS on Fire in The West

Munro College and STETHS continue to dominate track and field in western Jamaica. Those facts emerged powerfully at last week’s two-day Western Championships, held Thursday at STETHS and on Saturday inside the Montego Bay Sports Complex (Mar. 3 & 5, respectively). With Delano Williams speeding, Munro piled up 452 points to outdo the STETHS boys who scored 263. Full Story »

Edwin Allen Takes Central Champs Again

With Ristananna Tracey at the helm, Edwin Allen High School won at the Milo Central Championships for the second time in a row. Tracey appeared three times as Edwin Allen stacked up 378 points to outdistance the 325.5 point total scored by Holmwood Technical at GC Foster College last Thursday and Friday, Feb. 25 & 26. Vere Tech Is Back

Speed – Order of the Day at Western Relays

In a building that might soon be known as ‘The Palace’, the MVP Track Club took center stage at the 2011 Milo Western Relays. In the first meet inside the reconfigured Montego Bay Sports Complex at Catherine Hall, MVP rolled out its big guns with Asafa Powell, Shelly-Ann Frazer, Melaine Walker, Nesta Carter and Kaliese Spencer all showing good early season fitness. Murphy Continues Return with Swift 200m Run at Q-GJ Meet

With Jazheel Murphy leading the way, the high school boys crowded the 200m events in apparent tribute to the patron of last Saturday’s Queens-Grace Jackson development meet at the UWI-Usain Bolt track in Kingston. Murphy, Bridgeport High’s 2009 Class 2 double sprint champion, led 175 participants in the Class 1 200 with a swift run of 21.67 seconds. Full Story »

Yohan Blake Moves Up All Round

According to a list presented by the influential US magazine Track And Field News , Yohan Blake is moving up. On its Web site, the magazine listed the top 100 all-round sprinters in history and the young Jamaican appears at number 18. His lofty position follows his fine sprinting in 2010. Full Story »
