Jamaica Names Team For Worlds

The Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association (JAAA) has announced the team that will represent the island at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics to be held Aug. 15-23 in Berlin, Germany.
 
The 46-member contingent consists of 23 men and 23 women plus three alternates and an additional three reserves for the various relay pools.
 
Usain Bolt will lead the charge on the men’s side. He will be joined by Asafa Powell, Michael Frater, Maurice Wignall, Steve Mullings, Marvin Anderson, Ricardo Chambers, Allodin Fothergill, Lansford Spence, Dwight Thomas, Richard Phillips, Isa Phillips, Danny McFarlane, Josef Robertson, Alain Bailey, Nicholas Gordon, Julian Reid, Maurice Smith, Dorian Scott, Dane Hyatt, Jermaine Gonzales, Yohan Blake and Leford Green.
 
The women are Shelly-Ann Fraser, Kerron Stewart, Sheri-Ann Brooks, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Simone Facey, Anniesha McLaughlin, Shericka Williams, Christine Day, Kenia Sinclair, Delloreen Ennis-London, Brigitte Foster-Hylton, Lacena Golding-Clarke, Melaine Walker, Kaliese Spencer, Nickiesha Wilson, Jovanee Jarrett, Trecia Smith, Kimperly Williams, Rose-Marie Whyte, Bobby-Gaye Wilkins, Aileen Bailey and Shereefa Lloyd.
 
Alternates are: Markino Buckley (400m H), Ramone McKenzie (200m) and Vonette Dixon (100m H).
 
The JAAA has made it clear that: “An alternate can be used to replace an athlete named to the team within the time allowed by the rules in the event that it becomes necessary for such a replacement. An alternate would only therefore become a part of the team if it becomes necessary for them to replace an athlete named to the team.
 
Samantha Henry, Lerone Clarke and Anastasia LeRoy were picked as reserves for the various relay pools and may be selected to the team if a replacement becomes necessary.
