Ryan Brathwaite, the 21-yr-old Barbadian hurdler, who captured Barbados's first-ever gold medal at a major global event by winning the 110m hurdles, has been given diplomatic status by the Barbadian government. He is now Ambassador His Excellency Ryan Brathwaite. Full Story »

In less that a month, a second Caribbean athletes has been officially honored by his country for his stellar performance on the track. First, it was Daniel Bailey of Antigua and Barbuda; now the Jamaican government has conferred on Usain Bolt the nation's fourth highest honor, the Order of Jamaica, which entitles him to be addressed as 'Honorable' and use the post nominal letters 'OJ'. The 23-year-old Bolt will be the youngest ever recipient of such award. Full Story »

The latest anticipated clash between Jamaica’s two 100m superstars, Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell, fizzled out on the track yesterday, July 24, at the Aviva London Grand Prix meet, when Bolt destroyed the rest of field leaving Powell in 6th. Full Story »

Usain Bolt, Daniel Bailey, Yohan Blake – all three from Racers Track Club in Jamaica and conditioned by Glen Mills – ran 1-2-3 in the 100m yesterday at the highly touted Paris Golden League meet July 16. Bolt (Jam) clocked 9.79 secs. (-0.2 m/s) in the rain and cold temperature (19/55 degrees) to set a new meet record and season’s best, and pull home with him teammates Bailey (Antigua & Barbuda), 9.91 for his personal and national record, and 19-yr-old Blake, 9.93 for his personal best. Daniel Bailey, 22, of Antigua and Barbuda won the 100m at the ISTAF Golden League meet in Berlin, Germany in 10.03 secs., his third fastest of the year. In the women's equivalent, Jamaica's Olympic silver medalist Kerron Stewart, 25, the season's world leader, outclassed the field winning in 11 secs. flat. It was her third fastest of the year.
